Active Listening

Active listening is a communication technique that involves paying close attention to what the speaker is saying, both verbally and nonverbally, and responding in a way that shows that you understand and are interested.

Examples of Active Listening:

Eye Contact for Active Listening

  • Nodding: Nodding your head shows that you are listening and understanding what the speaker is saying.

Nodding For Active Listening

  • Facial Expressions: Using facial expressions such as smiling, frowning, or raising your eyebrows can show the speaker that you are following along and reacting to what they are saying.

  • Paraphrasing: Paraphrasing what the speaker has said shows that you understand their message and can repeat it back to them in your own words.
